The Location:

Senior Rating and Rules Developer

Toronto ON, Canada


The Role:

Insurance Systems Inc. (ISI) is seeking a dynamic individual with a broad skill set in analysis and development to join an exciting development team on an industry-leading web-based policy administration suite. We are targeting candidates who have specific domain knowledge with Property & Casualty Insurance and Rating and Rules development. Travel may be will be required as part of the position, though trips are generally no more than 3 days and happen once every 2-3 months, per project. Travel is predominantly in Canada and the U.S.

The successful candidate will join our Rating & Rules Development team in a full-time development role.

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Configure new Product lines within ISI’s Enterprise application
  • Design, develop and test business rules for new product features and implementations
  • Analyze customer requirements
  • Diagnose and fix Rules and Rating Production defects as required
  • Communicate and liaise with clients to ensure features meet requirements
  • Mentor developers
  • Work with the Development Team to continually refine our SDLC

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance-related software development
  • Solid knowledge of P&C; insurance industry workflows and concepts
  • Prior experience at an Insurance Company or at a vendor in the market of policy administration and related fields
  • Strong understanding of web application development principles and technologies (XML, HTML and JavaScript)
  • Strong knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL is an asset)
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

AWS QuickSight Developer

Toronto ON, Canada


The Role:

Insurance Systems Inc. (ISI) is seeking a dynamic individual with a broad skill set in analysis and development to join an exciting development team on an industry-leading web-based policy administration suite. We are targeting candidates who have specific experience with Amazon's QuickSight Business Intelligence tool. The successful candidate will help shape the development, rollout and support of AWS QuickSight for our policy administration suite.

The successful candidate will join our Data Team in a full-time development role.

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with the programmatical or manual migration of reports and dashboards from Izenda to QuickSight.
  • Work with clients and internal team members to define requirements for new dashboards
  • Create new analysis and dashboards in QuickSight for both base library content as well as customer specific deliverables
  • Fix dashboard defects as required
  • Investigate new reporting functionality as required
  • Train our customers and internal staff on using QuickSight efficiently.
  • Provide best practices for development and maintenance of QuickSights
  • Provide best practices for updating/deploying of QuickSights dashboards and analysis to production environments

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years of experience using AWS QuickSight's Reader, Author, and Admin functionality.
  • Developer experience with AWS API/SDK. Having experience with the .NET AWS API SDK would be preferred.
  • Experience working with other BI tools.
  • Experience profiling and preparing datasets for reporting/BI analysis.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for ETL and data analysis.
  • Experience working with large data sets for analysis, validation, and compliance.
  • Experience working with relational databases for performing queries and data analysis. Experience with both PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.
  • Experience building data pipelines using PostgreSQL, PSQL, etc. to be used in data analysis.
  • Experience building data pipelines using ETL Tools to be used in data analysis.

Reports Developer

Toronto ON, Canada


The Role:

Insurance Systems Inc. (ISI) is seeking a dynamic individual with a broad skill set in analysis and development to join an exciting development team on an industry-leading web-based policy administration suite. We are targeting candidates who have specific experience in developing enterprise level reports. The candidate will help select the new reporting tool that will be used within our application and will also lead the migration off Crystal Reports to the new chosen tool.

The successful candidate will join our Data Team in a full-time development role.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead search for new reporting engine for integrating into our enterprise software.
  • Lead migration of assets from Crystal Reports to new reporting engine.
  • Design and document reporting and business intelligence solutions to be implemented into production.
  • Design and develop various type of reports to produce Excel only, CSV, and PDF reports for both base canned reports as well as customer specific deliverables.
  • Conduct unit testing of reporting and business intelligence deliverables
  • Perform data profiling, preparing queries for reporting.
  • Perform improving performance for long-running queries.
  • Perform writing complex SQL queries for reporting, business intelligence, and dashboards
  • Create ad-hoc data extracts.
  • Extract and provide report queries to clients as required.
  • Write SQL statements to fix data due to application errors.
  • Work with large data sets for analysis, validation, and compliance.
  • Fix report related bugs/defects in rules, Crystal Reports files, application code.
  • Investigate new reporting functionality as required

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years experience developing enterprise level reports
  • Experience developing reports using Crystal Reports (experience with version 2008 is a plus).

Business Analyst / Senior Business Analyst – Reinsurance

Toronto ON, Canada


The Role:

ISI is seeking an individual with reinsurance experience. You will join a dynamic and fast paced team where you will play a business analyst role on key accounts. Your role will combine your reinsurance expertise with consulting and systems analysis skills to manage the client relationship. Qualified candidates must have reinsurance experience. Travel will be required as part of the position, though trips are generally no more than 3 days and happen once every 2-3 months, per project. Travel is predominantly in Canada and the U.S.

The Location:

The successful candidate will join our team in a full-time Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst in a hybrid work environment. ISI has a coworking office in the west-end of Toronto. Role Responsibilities:
  • Implement (configure system, document requirements, present progress & support, and train users) our insurance software, ISI Enterprise
  • Review and analysis of reinsurance agreements (proportional and non-proportional, quota share, excess of loss, etc.)
  • Liaise with clients in a front-line support role, building a positive relationship and responding to communications in a timely fashion
  • Gather requirements through a variety of methods including site visits and meetings
  • Work closely with development team to ensure solutions satisfy client needs as well as balancing the tradeoffs between simplicity, usability, performance, and functionality
  • Document both high level and detailed requirements in a manner that can be easily understood and transferred
  • Develop and educate stakeholders on system and insurance best practices
  • Create training materials and provide an appropriate level of knowledge transfer (internal and external) to ensure continued success for the customer and ISI team
  • Work with Project Management to ensure that deliverables are met based on the project plan with quality in a timely fashion
  • Challenge current processes both internally and externally and providing recommendations on how to improve
  • Contribute to core product enhancements related to reinsurance and accounting
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required

Qualifications:

 

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Technology, or similar discipline
  • Prior experience at a reinsurance/insurance company, reinsurance broker or at a vendor implementing policy administration systems or systems for insurance
  • Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) is considered an asset
  • Working towards or holding CIP designation is considered an asset
  • CPA is considered an asset
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities while meeting client and company deadlines
